Who we are

About Krisineleos

Our Mission

To provide affordable, community-based housing in Victoria through cooperation, inclusion, and shared responsibility.

Our Values

We value cooperation, sustainability, and mutual respect — the foundations of a supportive, member-led community.

Land Acknowledgement

At Krisineleos Housing Co-operative, we are honoured to live, work, and gather on the unceded lək̓ʷəŋən territory — the traditional lands of the Songhees and xʷsepsum (Esquimalt) Nations.

We recognize that these lands have been cared for by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial, and that their connections to this place continue today. As a housing co-operative, we value shared stewardship and community care, and we understand that our work takes place within a broader responsibility to the land and to those who have always called it home.

We offer our gratitude to the Songhees and xʷsepsum Nations for their enduring relationships with this territory, and we commit to learning from Indigenous teachings about cooperation, reciprocity, and respect.

Established in 1991, Krisineleos Housing Co-operative is home to 34 households in Saanich, BC. Our 2.5-hectare site includes shared green space, community gardens, and a children’s playground.

Homes range from two- to four-bedroom units, including one single-level accessible home. Housing charges cover the co-op’s operating costs and reserves — members help govern and maintain the community through participation and shared decision-making.

Krisineleos is close to everyday amenities such as Royal Oak Plaza, Co-op Gas, and Tillicum Centre, and within walking distance of the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence and Layritz baseball and soccer fields.

Nearby schools include Northridge, McKenzie, and Strawberry Vale Elementary, Glanford and Royal Oak Middle Schools, and Camosun College.

Life here is practical and neighbourly. Members contribute in ways that suit their time and skills — through seasonal landscaping, committee work, occasional potlucks, or helping in shared spaces. Participation keeps the co-op running well and connected as a community.

Community Contributions

The Role of Committees and Members

At Krisineleos, our committees and members are the backbone of our cooperative’s success. Committees focus on various aspects of co-op life, from maintenance to social events, ensuring smooth operations and community engagement. Members actively participate in decision-making processes, contributing their skills and ideas to enhance our living environment. This collaborative approach not only strengthens our community bonds but also empowers individuals to take ownership of their home and surroundings, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.
